Roll to length machine

In order to facilitate process and, above all, for a correct distribution of tolerances on the length of the heating elements during bending, it is important to have heating elements, as far as possible, of equal length.

CSM MACHINERY has designed the roll-to-length machine (equilong) to recover difference in length of heating elements, in line with the roll reduction mill.

The machine has the following functions:

  • Measurement of the length of the heating element exiting the rolling mill.
  • Elongation of the heating element by difference from a set value, by a second diameter reduction.

This second diameter reduction may be carried out on the whole heating element length except for a programmable initial or final section or so-called protected zone.

Equilong

The roll to length machine is made up of:

  • Three devices for the electrical measurement of the length of the heating element, through an encoder, one in line with roll reduction mill, one at the entrance of the equilong and one after the second diameter reduction.
  • Device to transfer heating elements from the exit of the first measuring station to the machine.
  • Group for the second diameter reduction with 2 pairs of motorised rolls.
  • Straightening group with non-motorised rolls.
  • Unit to remove heating elements at the end of the cycle.
